DLR Underground — Knife Free Community
Self-initiated concept · Public awareness campaign · OOH, posters, social
DLR Underground is a public awareness campaign designed to confront knife crime through familiarity and disruption. At first glance, the campaign resembles a standard DLR transport map. On closer inspection, each line tells the true story of a life lost to knife crime — transforming routes into narratives, and stations into moments of reflection.
The Idea:
Knife crime is often reduced to statistics. This campaign restores humanity by embedding real stories into a system people interact with daily. What looks routine becomes uncomfortable, forcing commuters to pause, read, and reflect. By embedding these stories into a system used every day, the campaign shifts knife crime from abstract statistics to personal loss. Selected lines are extracted into posters and placed at or near the exact locations where each victim lost their life, grounding the message in real space.
